Scanning magnetic tunnel junction microscope for high-resolution imaging of remanent magnetization fields using Micro Magnetics' STJ sensors
Fall River, MA - August 28, 2014 - Using Micro Magnetics' SpinTJ Series magnetic tunneling junction (MTJ) sensors, scientists from Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed a scanning magnetic microscope for paleomagnetism applications. Micro Magnetics' MTJ sensors demonstrated field sensitivities better than 150 nT/Hz1/2 between 0.1 and 10 Hz, representing a factor of 100 better than achievable with typical commercial superconducting moment magnetometers. The research has been published in the journal of Measurement Science and Technology, downloadable here. According to IOPScience, this publication is an "IOP Select" paper chosen for its "novelty, significance and potential impact on future research".
