Micro Magnetics launches STJ-3D three-axis magnetic field sensors based on magnetic tunneling junction technology
Fall River, MA - February 28, 2013 - Micro Magnetics today launches a new member to its SpinTJ magnetic sensor product family, STJ-3D. The STJ-3D is an integrated three-axis magnetic solid-state sensor capable of measuring absolute magnetic field vectors with three field components along the X-, Y- and Z-axis. The STJ-3D is fabricated based on the state-of-the-art technology of magnetic quantum mechanical tunneling junction (MTJ). STJ-3D features high sensitivity, large dynamic range, low signal noise, and low power consumption. It’s easy to use. It requires only an applied voltage (up to 24V). It outputs three corresponding voltages for 3-axis magnetic field components. The internal magnetic structure of STJ-3D is robust against even Tesla-scale external field. There is no need to regularly apply a large current pulse to restore the sensor's properties after the sensor is exposed to a high magnetic field, unlike some other types of magnetic sensors requires.
STJ-3D operates in a wide frequency range between DC to 7 MHz. The applied voltage can be either DC or AC. Electronic noise can be minimized by using AC modulation on the applied voltage.
One major advantage of STJ-3D is that a user can easily calibrate the sensor by applying a DC voltage to the sensor. Whether the sensor has been used for a long time, or at extreme temperatures, or in any environment, the sensor can be calibrated internally and assure high field accuracy.
Furthermore, STJ-3D has a build-in thermometer, allowing the measurement of both temperature and magnetic field to be measured simultaneously.
The STJ-3D is ideally suited for a wide range of applications.
